Start a Morning Mantra

ree

Why start a Morning Mantra? A mantra is a word, a short sentence or sound meant to be repeated silently in order to enhance concentration in meditation. ... Morning mantras set a positive intention for where your focus and energy should be, empowering you to maintain that mindset throughout the day.

According to Thrive Global, "mantras can be effective even if people don’t regularly meditate. The research found that when someone repeats a mantra, it causes a major shift in their brain activity — specifically in the part responsible for internal evaluation, rumination, and mind-wandering. When researchers compared results between participants in a resting state who used a mantra against those that didn’t, the ones utilizing the mantra reached a more advanced state of psychological calm." (www.ThriveGlobal.com)

Mantras help start your day and keep focused on good energy. It is loving words or a phrase that connects with you and helps energize or ease your day. It may be encouraging words to inspire you to the next step. Mantras are simply wonderful! and starting a morning mantra may be exactly what you need to help your morning!

Below are some examples of Mantras, try repeating these Mantras during your morning routine and throughout your day. Also try creating a Mantra or a collection of custom Mantras that work for you.

"It is what it is, and all is well"

"Everything is always working out for me.

“Happiness is a choice, not a condition. I choose to be happy.”

“Everything happens right on schedule.”

Have a Fabulous Day Everyone!

- Belynda Farias

It’s Day 28! Can you believe this month is almost over? To continue with our healthy resolutions,

ree

today is a reminder to eat a healthy snack.

It’s easy to be distracted with other foods that may not be so healthy, however it’s all about how you look at it…. Food is Fun!

What do I mean?

In my household I have 3 teenage girls, all very different, with very different food likes. This makes for a bit of a challenge when planning meals.

My oldest daughter Arlen, is a Vegetarian and follows a strict vegetarian diet. My youngest daughter Zelie is Type 1 Diabetic and has a very strict low/no carb diet. My other teen Arielle is pretty content with food in general. (She’s the easiest to cook for...lol)

In thinking of snacks for my family, the regular fruits and vegetables won’t work for a diabetic menu as fruits are very high in carbs.

ree

What Zelie and I found out through trial and error was that her favorite low carb snack was sliced yellow and orange bell peppers.

These are perfect for a quick healthy snack and it’s only 6 carbs per serving, which is perfect for Zelie.

You can add a savory cream cheese spread on the side as a dip, which would only add 2 extra carbs, again, making this is a perfect and low carb- low sugar healthy snack.

Zelie loves these so much, she eats more Bell peppers now, than ever before.

ree

Arlen my oldest teen, can be picky with her snacks, but her favorite healthy snack is Apple wedges with Peanut Butter. She will have this snack several times throughout the week. This is a perfect snack for a vegetarian diet as the Peanut Butter gives her the protein she needs and the Apple assures her the vitamins and nutrients needed for her daily nutrition.

As an added option when the Peanut Butter is out, she will make a honey cream cheese dip to go with her Apple wedges. And let me tell you, this is Yummy!

I love this dip too, and it goes well with any fruit and vegetable like celery or carrots.

ree

Arielle likes Smoothies. Any day, Any time, Any kind. This is one of the best healthy snack options, because you can literally blend any combination of fruits and/or vegetables into a smoothie. Add a little Greek yogurt for a smooth creamy texture and honey to taste…. And Voila! A delicious creamy beverage/Meal that is jam packed with vitamins, nutrients and a whole lot of goodness!

I have to say Smoothies are one of my favorite healthy snacks too! I love making these for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They are even better when I add a little bit of vanilla protein powder…. Yum!

My husband’s favorite smoothie is a mixed greens Smoothie, with Spinach, Kale, Celery and Apple and a little honey to add sweetness.

I recently purchased a dehydrator and a home deli meat slicer to slice fruits and veggies to make my dehydrated chips. I made Apple chips, Cinnamon Apple Chips, Sweet Pear Chips, Homemade Banana Chips and Orange Slices! And they were delicious! They didn’t even last a day, they all disappeared faster than it took to make them. This is a great sign…. My family loved them as much as I thought they would.

ree

Today I’m planning on making kiwi chips and Zucchini chips along with the delicious Cinnamon Apple Chips. I’ll be sure to make a video to share later. I’m pretty sure they will be delicious! And what matters to me, is that they are nutritious with no preservatives or unwanted added ingredients, just pure raw fruits and veggies with wholesome goodness.

ree

If you’re in the market for a dehydrator, I purchased the Gardenmaster Dehydrator by Nesco and I love it!! It’s easy to use and you can purchase more trays if your snack making increases.

So, Day 28 - Eat Healthy snacks… If you don’t have or like any of the items I shared above, it’s OK. The important thing is to Think Healthy.

You can start by changing out some of the current snacks to other healthier options. Set the intention and take action towards a healthier life… your body will love you for it!

What is your favorite go-to snack? We’d love to know!
